Submissions Guidelines:
Thanks for your interest in J. Gordon Shillingford. We publish Canadian authored drama, poetry, and certain types of non-fiction. We do not publish fiction. Look through the titles on our website and you’ll get a pretty good idea of the kinds of books we’re interested in.
We will consider multiple submissions, but please make a note of this in your covering letter. We do not accept queries by fax or phone and do not discuss concepts over the phone.
Please allow 3-6 months for a response.

Drama (Scirocco Drama)
We only consider manuscripts that have or will be professionally produced.
Please send the entire manuscript, a cover letter, and a writer’s CV with a list of previous publications and productions. Electronic submissions are preferred for drama submissions.

Poetry (The Muses’ Company)
We publish poetry by poets who have established a publishing record, either a book or books, or several publications in literary magazines.
Please send a query letter, a writer’s CV with a list of previous publications, and no more than a 20-page sample of your manuscript. If we are interested, we will ask for the rest of the manuscript. Please enclose a SASE if you want your manuscript returned (manuscripts without a SASE will not be returned).

Non-fiction (J. Gordon Shillingford Publishing Inc., Watson & Dwyer)
J. Gordon Shillingford titles include books about politics, religion, true crime, and biography titles. Watson & Dwyer titles are primarily Canadian social history books. Look through our non-fiction titles and you’ll get a good idea of the kinds of non-fiction we publish.
