Leah Cherniak
Leah Cherniak is a director, actor and teacher and theatre maker. She was the co-founder with Martha Ross, of Common Boots Theatre in Toronto. The company created more than thirty new plays with an excellent reputation for innovative productions of classics. Leah studied theatre at Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris. As well as acting and directing in many major theatres in Canada, she also taught acting, directing and clown for over twenty years at institutions such as The University of Toronto and Ryerson Theatre School. She spent ten years at Soulpepper Theatre in Toronto, as a Resident Artist. Most recently she directed a short film by Alex Bulmer called Postcards from my Balcony; co-directed a multi media immersive play, Here are the Fragments by Suvendrini Lena, and with Tomson Highway, directed his cabaret/theatre piece called Lynx Lamour goes to Nashville that turned northern Manitoba.
