Intermission is an uncommon and refreshing excavation of popular culture, memory, and relationship. It offers startling interpretations of the fashionable sitcoms and young-adult novels which were prevalent during the late 1970s while exploring the nuances of belonging, faith, and loss. With a tensile gesture we are moved from the icons of the 1960s–Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and the playful insertion of Jim Morrison’s documented acronym of his own name, Mr. Mojo Risin’–to the cityscapes inherited by Generation X.
About the Author
Heather Simeney MacLeod is the author of four poetry books: Intermission, My Flesh the Sound of Rain, The Burden of Snow and The Little Yellow House. Her work has been published widely in Canada and the U.S. and has also appeared in print in Britain, Ireland, France, Israel, Australia and New Zealand. Heather has a BA in creative writing from the University of Victoria, a M.S.Sc. from the University of Edinburgh, and a PhD in English and film studies from the University of Alberta. She lives in Kamloops, B.C.
